I MISS YOU TUMBLR!!!
when somebody mentions “malnutrition” the first thing that comes to our mind as Filipinos would be being “underweight” or not getting enough food. but Malnutrition is not only concerned with being underweight, its also concerned with obesity or being overweight. according to Wikipedia (yes it is my current source of data. i am just a HS student, i still rely on Wiki) Malnutrition is the condition that results from taking an unbalanced diet in which certain nutrients are lacking, in excess or in the wrong proportions.
Malnutrition is a Health problem that the majority of us Filipinos face. a lot of us may be overweight and flabby due to not much source of food and can only eat the same ones all the time causing to incorrect proportions of food or just eating any kind without moderation or having a sickness that forces you to eat a lot. on the other hand… Underweight malnutrition are ways more deeper than being overweight. being Underweight roots back to being unable to buy food, unable to eat food or having a sickness that prevents you from eating nutritious foods.
Underweight Malnutrition can be caused by poverty. being unable to buy necessities such as food can cause to serious illnesses. like i said before, being underweight is much more deeper because its a Nationwide Crisis. Poverty in a 3rd world country like ours seems to cause a lot of malnutrition, especially on children. a child is still little, small and fragile. they can break if they aren’t taken care of properly. but there are also another deeper problem that causes us to be underweight especially on Girls and Women. it is proven that there is an Eating disorder that stops you from eating causing you to be underweight. Anorexia and Bulimia. Anorexic women tends to see themselves as fat and unattractive due to their body shape so they try their best to lose weight, even if it means not eating for a week, month or year. I have seen a Talk show that featured Anorexic women and there i saw that some Anorexic patients try to eat Face powder and cotton just to avoid adding weight to their body. its a very sad picture to see because those women are very thin and yet they think that they are fat. Bulimia on the other hand is an Eating Disorder where you eat the same amount of food before or eat more food but force yourself to vomit it out afterwards. its a serious disorder because trying to force food out of your body causes it to be used to vomiting out and would make you do it unconsciously. if the body learns to reject the food you eat then your in serious danger… cause whenever you eat your body rejects it and makes you vomit it out.
patients who gets this kind of disorders are mostly emotionally scarred or traumatized. it is mostly caused my psychological reasons that they force themselves not to eat. some have said that they were teased because of being fat or bullied because they look odd therefore in an attempt to escape from peer pressure they resort to extreme diets that later on develop into eating disorders.
being malnourished can cause you to be very sickly. and if you are, you cant enjoy life to the fullest. so guys take care of yourselves and realize that even though you are fat or thin you shouldn’t force yourself to change the way you look. people will accept you as long as you be true to yourself and who you are. and the hunger of those who cant afford food… we just have to pray for them. they do deserve much much better than what they get. the next time you see someone who is sick due to a disorder or just cause of plain poverty, share a little of your time or food. you never know if somehow in some way you helped them recover from those traumatized ways or help them discover their inner strength to be able to do their best and move out from hungry days and work their way to the top.
words can either hurt or help so choose them wisely and do the same with what you eat and how you eat it.

Hasselblad 500 C/M
December 7, 2011
Taken with Canon 5DIIThe Hasselblad 500 C/M is a beautiful yet simple classic camera produced from 1970 through 1994. It is completely mechanical (no battery or light meter) which allows it to be quite robust and reliable. I typically use mine with an A12 film back that shoots 12 square photos (roughly 6cm by 6cm) on a roll of 120 film. The most common lens used with it is an 80mm f/2.8 made by Carl Zeiss that gives a slightly wider field of view than a 50mm lens does on a 35mm camera. Using the waist level finder may take some getting used to if you have never used one as the image is mirrored, but they are bright and easy to focus. I would not recommend this camera for a beginner as it only operates in manual mode and does not have a light meter, but if you have a good understanding of the relationship between shutter speed, aperture, and film speed and are comfortable with either the sunny 16 rule or a light meter this camera is a joy to shoot with.
